This is a really cute little shrug — Tillie by Pam Allen. (I think Pam Allen is the queen of shrugs.) But what I’m particularly in love with is the stitch pattern! I know I’ve also seen it just recently on a more bite-sized project — a hat or mittens? — but cannot find whatever it was. Does anyone know what I’m thinking of, or anything specific about this stitch pattern? My fingers are itching to knit it.

I’ve seen this stitch pattern on the Siri Cardigan. Which is not a small item but might also be of interest to anyone who likes that stitch.
Oh, that’s cute: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/siri-4
Thanks for adding the link!
Is it Halligarth, by Gudrun Johnston?
Is this the same stitch on Tincanknits Sitke patterns? It comes in a hat and mittens
Oh, right! That’s been on my list for years.
Literally: https://fringeassociation.com/2013/02/04/knitters-delight-beautifully-textured-hats/
But I know I also just saw it more recently — I feel like it was a pair of mittens in the pink-purple family.
Not exactly identical, but your mention of mittens made me think of Melody’s (bmandarines) recent mitten and hat patterns:

it looks a lot like Sitka Spruce (hat and mittens) by Tin Can Knits :-)
http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sitka-spruce-2
It’s reminiscent of the Sitka Spruce hat & mittens pattern by TinCanKnits (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sitka-spruce-2). It’s a lovely thing.
It is somewhat similar to the featherlike pattern on the Fleesensee hat by The Wool Club, which is knit up in a beautiful purple for the sample :)

Hadn’t seen that but I like it! Thanks for the link.
Is it the Fleesensee Hat Karen by The Wool Club? There are also mittens coming out, socks & a hot water bottle all with the same design aspects
I feel like I’ve seen it in a brooklyn tweed item.
It is also very similar to the stitch pattern on Halligarth!
Yes, that’s another favorite of mine:

I love the Sitka hat. Do you think it any easy stitch to follow? Lately I’ve had trouble following charts-must be that Super Moon!
probably not what you were thinking of but the reversible rivulet scarf?

side note: my new favorites are the elizabeth suzann knit sweater teasers!!!!!! they are just ripe for improv top down!!!!!
Years ago I made a Rowan “denim” yarn cardigan by Kim Hargreaves I think using the same leaves, if I recall correctly. 1999. From the book Rowan Denim. I think the design is called Mary.
This one! http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mary
I feel like I saw something like this in Pom Pom recently – not this, but it does look similar to what you’re describing: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/vanishing-point-3
I think there is a scarf in the most recent PomPom Quarterly that uses a similar stitch pattern.
This just popped into my inbox. Maybe?

Kate Davies has a stranded version here:

And the motif shows up in other patterns of hers on Ravelry.
I love the Tillie sweater and made it last year. The pattern was a little tricky initially, but I settled into it. A smaller project would be a great way to start.
It’s the ribbed leaf stitch pattern (http://www.knittingmagic.biz/patterns/ribbed-leaf-pattern.html). If you have the stitch pattern, I think it wouldn’t be to complicated to design your own hat/mittens/cowl.
Oh awesome, thank you for the name of it!
It’s in Barbara Walker’s A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns. She called it Ribbed Leaf. I used it as one of several background patterns in Stefan’s Dinosaurs (http://www.ravelry.com/projects/PMcD/stefans-dinosaurs).
PS It’s a twisted stitch pattern, so you don’t need a cable needle to work it. Do use Barbara Walker’s suggestions for working left and right twisted stitches.
is it the mitts from stone wool’s new cormo collection? her new yarn looks so, so lovely!
http://www.thestonewool.co/patterns/
YES! That’s it — thank you, that was making me crazy.
