Now that the 4th of July is behind us, it’s safe to start dreaming about Fall — which will be here in a heartbeat, people. I know I’m not the only one mired in reveries, because my Instagram feed is suddenly full of fall feelings. And you know more than anything, I’m dreaming of cable sweaters. I ran across this new pattern by Debbie Bliss last night, with the melodic and inventive name of Cropped Cable Sweater, and fell instantly in want. I love how evocative it is of all those vintage cable pullovers trapped in my stack of old pattern booklets, but I imagine this one would be merciful enough to include a proper chart! I’m already mentally scanning my stash for yarn candidates and imagining amusing outfits …

I love cable fall sweaters, and I am so fortunate to live in a climate where I can wear one every day of the year. I pity the people who live in hotter climates and miss out of wearing the beautiful cardigans and sweaters that they work so hard on. It makes me feel so sad for them.
It just makes us that much happier when we get to haul them out!

If I just ran across the photo, I would totally have assumed the sweater was vintage.
I am knitting a cabled pullover right now, a gorgeous Fall test knit for Heidi Kirrmaier. OMG, I am loving it. I hold you partially to blame, Karen, for what looks to be a new obsession. After all, Fringe is the source for Cable News. This cropped one is super chic.

I’ve seeeeriously had cables on the brain lately – when the weather’s warm in summer I always start dreaming of autumn! But this sweater’s lovely, and actually super similar to the cabled beauty in the michiyo book I bought that I’m hoping to make at some point! (http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/p11-tight-fit-aran-pullover) The raglan shape and sleeves are probably the biggest difference, but the michiyo pattern *definitely* has a chart :)

of the old cable patterns from years past and knit many of them for my kids. And in those days we
didn’t have the charts! My favorite is a cabled sweater with raglan sleeves!
I’ve been dreaming of a cable sweater for a year and have book marked many over on Ravelry. Can’t decide which is currently my biggest obsession – cabled pullover / old-school gansey pullover / icelandic yoke pullover. Guess I need to knit one of each…right?!
That Debbie Bliss sweater reminds me a lot of this Rowan sweater that has been in my Ravelry queue forever (http://www.knitrowan.com/designs-and-patterns/patterns/land-girls-moving-cable-sweater).
Karen, I’m a little surprised you don’t make your own charts. They really are a snap to do, particularly when ‘understanding’ knit stitches already. If you would like lessons or assistance making charts, let me know. I would be pleased to do that for you.

Its a new pattern. It says its published July 2016 but I cannot find it anywhere. It also says its an ebook so I’m assuming it will be available on Ravelry soon???
The Ravelry pattern notes what booklet it’s published in, with a link to the Rav page for that booklet. In this case it’s called Falkland Aran: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/sources/falkland-aran
Which then doesn’t tell you how to download it … but I’m guessing it’s actually a print booklet.
