(My weekend will be spent sewing miles of muslin drape for the booth walls. Wish me luck.) Who’s coming?

Wow! After following each side connection I feel like I’ve taken a whirlwind trip that covers everything that I love! You are absolutely the best Post I get and I wait for it Mon-Friday. I must say there are times when I wish you had a weekend post but totally understand. I always come away knowing more than when I opened my “Fringe Mail”! That really means a lot to me. There are so many people I’d like to know about, the places they life and what they love doing in their lives and you connect me with those people and not only make me a better person but a better knitter and knitter friend, I hope! One more thing, do you think you could come up with a “touch blog”? I am dying to get my hands on those cute little lambs (my fav. is the one with the brown marking on his/her face).

I love what Cirilia says about homage and attribution. Beautifully written! Coincidences do happen in the “ether”, but by the same token, paying tribute to sources of inspiration is key. It shows a deeper understanding of how the creative process works and displays a generosity of spirit that makes for a richer, creative atmosphere for all of us.
Not sure if you’re conflating two separate thoughts there or if you meant to be suggesting that there’s some unattributed inspiration here? As noted, Cirilia wrote her pattern in 2011, and then photographed it (or Jared did, with C modeling) in the spring of 2013. She talks in the blog post and the book about how the hat came to be — that’s all the inspiration there was in this case. I think you’ll find Cirilia to be one of the best out there at sharing her many sources of inspiration (from fashion to travel to industry mentors) — on her blog and past blogs/vlogs and throughout her book. She’s as generous as they come in that regard.

You have completely misunderstood what I was saying, Karen. I am a big fan of Cirilia’s. What she wrote is beautiful and shows a real understanding of how the creative process works. She is generous and open and articulate, besides being a really talented designer. That is what I thought I said. In any case, that is what I meant.

Thanks for all your great posts!! I really like all the “finds” and enjoy reading about them too. Interesting and dismaying about Jared moving away from NY . Is there a back story?
Hi, Elaine. Do you mean other than what he’s said about it in that blog post?
He’s so close to the Harrisville Mill and has said many times about how much he loves NY and all the energy he gets from there and the people and inspiration so I was just wondering if something had happened to make him rethink this.
I imagine it was a hard decision to make.
These craft sessions! Like you, I wish I won the lottery (not that I ever play) to book a trip to Melbourne and attend a few of these. There is nothing like it in Montreal, maybe time to create something of the kind here.
