I’m kind of in awe of Sarai (I wish I knew how that’s pronounced) Mitnick and her blog Coletterie. Ok, not kind of: I’m in awe. Being founder of Colette Patterns, she’s obviously a master sewer, and she’s an accomplished knitter, too, but she’s really a phenomenal blogger. I’ve mentioned before how wowed I am at how thorough her Wardrobe Architect series has been, but it seems that’s a defining trait of hers. Just look at this post about her brilliant storage system for her vintage pattern collection. The blog is so robust I confess I can only be a spotty reader, but time spent there always leaves me wanting to be both a better sewer and a better blogger.

I know a woman with that name, and she pronounces it “Sarah”. It is the original spelling of Abraham’s wife, Sarah (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarah).

Agree with you. I cannot remember how I found her blog, but it is on my blog roll. I especially love her weekly recaps and links to other insightful blogs and pieces about consuming, mindfulness, simple living, etc… I’ve only started blogging recently, and realize now the amount of time and effort it requires. Blogs like yours and hers make me want to keep on working at it and improve (I have a long way to go). Thanks for sharing your likes, I’ve discovered other great blogs thanks to this series.
Colette has a Sew-A-Long going on right now, for a really cute fabric skirt called Mabel. I’m in it both for the patterns, and also for the expertise on how to sew with knit fabrics. I wish there was a Ravelry equivalent (or even approximation) for sewing. This is pretty close. Colette patterns are so cute!

Listen to the Thread Cult podcast interview with her. It’s really interesting and you learn how to pronounce her name. I’m a huge fan of hers…but don’t go changing. Your blog is pretty awesome just the way it is.

As for the name, it’s sort of a weird pronounciation (though Shea is right about the origin). It’s pronounced SAYR-ee, rhymes with Carrie or Mary. I don’t know why my parents chose to pronounce it that way, but I’m stuck with it. :)
