You know how you never want to buy the knitting magazine or pattern collection because there’s only one thing in there you might want to make? And then along comes Rowan with their Autumn Knits issue, and wow, what don’t I want to make?
Still, I have favorites:
TOP LEFT: Wye turtleneck, (so Chloé!), also my lifelong back-to-school fantasy outfit
TOP RIGHT: Derwent bat-wing, great shape but it’s that cable detail that’s killing me
MIDDLE LEFT: Hassop vest, yes to vests
MIDDLE RIGHT: Ilam pullover, dude
BOTTOM LEFT: Hope pullover, pretty chic fair isle
BOTTOM RIGHT: Monyash cardigan, geometric splendor
All designed by Rowan’s head designer Marie Wallin, to whom I hereby send a virtual curtsy.
.
Except for the male who looks like he’s just chilling, the female model looks like she has had a ROUGH day!
I know. What is she so mad about?
Other than that, the sweaters are tab! You have a great eye for these things.
Any suggestions for something similar to the Derwent, but knit top down. I searched but didn’t have much luck.
Closest thing that springs to mind is Norah Gaughan’s new pattern Blish. You could easily knit a few ridges of garter stitch (like Derwent) for the neck, instead of Blish’s mock turtle, and I’d personally do M1’s instead of YO’s for the increases.
Want Want Want!!! Especially the Dewent bat-wing. Oh, ya…
I love all of them!!! It’s a shame Rowan mag is expensive. I wanna make them all except the guy sweater (I don’t knit for men). But I’ll take the guy if he’s free!
Can you knit the male model too? ;-)
Too much competition for the blow dryer.
Oh I’d learn to share…
;-)
Monyash. Mmm…wondering how many cardigans I can justify making for myself this autumn/winter. Isn’t there a Kate Davies piece in that mag too?
No, this one is 100% Marie Wallin. Not sure which issue the Kate Davies piece is in.
Beg your pardon, Kate Davies is in Rowan magazine rather than this booklet.
Some lovely stuff here all the same- thanks for the heads up!
Oh, I like your virtual curtsy! I send one too. Sadly most Rowan patterns remain just beyond my current skill and endurance levels. But I love to look!
Sweet collection, really love it!

I adore those knits and the colors-yum!….however I am far from an expert knitter so I doubt I could make any of them and have never done cables. Fairisle-gulp-scares me!
Cables are the easiest thing in the world. I’m planning to do a post about cable projects for first-timers so keep an eye out for that soon.
