It may not be much — or much to look at — but it’s a happy thing. It’s the start of a sleeve for my chunky Walpole. The back-and-forth of the body is the slowest-going thing ever (for me), which is discouraging, so I decided to treat myself to a sleeve. It’ll be quick and enjoyable, plus it’ll put me that much closer to the finish line. I’m hoping once I’ve got two sleeves done, I’ll be driven by an urgent desire to finish the body so I can join the sleeves to it and start to feel like I’m making something. I really want this sweater.

What fun! I knit a sweater last year starting with the sleeves, and it was a nice change of pace.

Never thought of doing the sleeves first! It’s always what drags a project down for me!
