New Favorites: Bulky little layering sweaters

rowan winter drift sweaters tender and swaddle

Our weather extremes are certainly no match for New York’s, but a few days ago it was in the mid-80s and now it’s dreary, cold and rainy. Combine that with the fact that I would dearly love to knit myself another sweater before the year ends, and I’ve got bulky little layering sweaters on my mind. Both of these are from Rowan Winter Drift, and either would do nicely. The one on the left is Swaddle, designed by Grace Melville. On the right is Tender, designed by Marie Wallin.

The details on Swaddle are lovely — reverse stockinette for the turtleneck, so the edge curls the right way when it’s folded over; sleeves knitted crossways with a cable detail at the seam edge. (Although that last bit might make me look like a linebacker.) And Tender would be useful all year here in SF — it’d look great over a loose tank or sleeveless shirt on cool summer days.

Seriously, is there an Evelyn Wood for knitting?
