Metalico on my mind

blue sky alpacas metalico yarn

I saw this photo on the Blue Sky Alpacas blog over the weekend and can’t get it out of my mind. It’s their new yarn, Metalico, due out in a few weeks — baby alpaca and mulberry silk. So it’s similar to that delicious Artfibers yarn I used for my mother’s eggplant kerchief, which had just the most elegant, slight sheen from the mulberry. But look at these colors! All naturally occurring in the alpaca, apparently. I’m dying to get my hands on some of this. DYING.

  1. Yeah, I’ve been thinking about WHAT, but I imagine price will be a factor. Multicolor is a great idea. I also got my Brooklyn Tweed in the mail on Saturday, which is a little bit duller shade of brown than I was hoping for, which got me thinking of holding something double with it. And now I’m wondering whether this might be a candidate for that, to give it a little more richness? The Metalico is sport weight, so it wouldn’t make it *too* bulky. Wish there was a way to see it, and I wonder who’ll be stocking it when it releases. So difficult, being teased like that.

    • That sounds like a great idea! Quince and Co. has a card of color samples that you can buy. I wonder if they do, also?
