Ummm … remember how I originally bought four skeins of this Malabrigo, and later found two more? The latter were of a different dye lot. Given the nature of the yarn I wasn’t too worried about it, but I did mean to set them aside and hope I didn’t need them. Instead I forgot to do that and have now managed to use one ball from each batch. Without noticing until, y’know, eight inches later. (The peril of only knitting at night, in dim light.)
I don’t know which is from which dye lot — even better! — but I’m not a big fan of what’s going on with the second ball. It’s a lot more olive green, almost none of the aforementioned unexpected violet, and it’s stripier. The first one was more pointillist. Anyway, I think I can live with it.
Argh.

Arrggh indeed. However, if you really hate it, but think you’ll need it, you can rip back and then knit with two skeins at once, one from each dye lot, alternating rows to minimize the difference.
I really don’t think I’ll need it. Especially since I’m pretty sure I’m making this one short-sleeved. I’m just not sure it’s worth ripping all that out and doing it over. So mad at myself for not separating the skeins like I meant to.
Just struck me that that response of mine presumes that I have four of the one I like and two of the one I don’t like. When actually I have no idea and no way of telling. I could have four of the stripe-y olive one.

Turns out I was wrong about this all along. Those two skeins were from the same lot.
