gregor calendar design sponge macrame

OK friends, lots of good stuff piled up since our last Elsewhere:

— If you don’t have a 2013 calendar, this knitted version you unravel as time passes is pretty effing brilliant. And on sale!

— One of my all-time favorite designers is Bonnie Cashin, of 1960s Coach fame, but I had no idea she designed cashmere sweaters for a Scottish company, nor that she left behind all these amazing sweater paintings. I’d like them on the walls of my new studio, please. (via)

— New knitting campaigns for Afghans for Afghans and Knitters for Newtown (hat tip to Jo)

— Kim Werker, Brett Sandusky and Corey Pressman are trying to launch a new DIY mag/app, called Holocene

— Love this crazy macrame light fixture in the Design Sponge office, and also this gigantic cross-stitch restaurant wall

— And for that “Awwww” moment, cutest baby sweater ever

Happy clicking …

p.s. I finished my Walpole last night! Will post pics once it’s blocked.

    • My pleasure, Kim. You’ve been an inspiration to me since we first “met” in the dark ages of Twitter. And I met Corey at Books in Browsers 2011 and found him to be easily the most compelling of the presenters. So I’m really excited about your project.

I hope you’ll cast on for State Street! I picked it back up again last night after weaving in the last end on my cardigan. It is a delight in every sense.

  1. Love the fair isle parade … how cute are those folks and their sweaters?! I’ve got to cast on my State Street. Glad to know how much you enjoy knitting it.

  2. Yay for finished Walpole!

Love that raveling calendar. They are sold out now, alas.

I had to pause on the cowl … got myself a little RSI working away at it, plus I’ve been too busy. I’m just going to do one more row of ribbing and bind off, rather than ripping back. I plan a tubular bind-off, which is the most flexible, I think.

I will be at Stitches West in February, working. Will you be there?
